Jane Steinberg, MFT

People say that what we’re all seeking is a meaning of life. I don’t think that’s what we’re really seeking. I think that what we’re seeking is an experience of being alive.

– Joseph Campbell

My Approach

Together we will collaborate to make sense of your struggles, strengths and your experiences and help you find a deeper understanding and knowledge of yourself. With these insights and awareness, you can discover your unique path and guide you down it.

Specialty/expertise as a therapist

I have 25 years of experience helping people to get to the source of what is causing you pain, anxiety, loneliness and depression. I can help you resolve trauma using EMDR and other intensive and focused treatments. My style combines analytic methods, CBT, spiritual perspectives and other healing and somatic traditions. We will determine the right combination based on your needs and preferences.

I draw on my extensive training, experience and resources to maximize our work together and provide effective treatment.

With Somatic Psychology practices and skill building, you will learn to sense and feel what happens in your body to guide you in awareness of yourself and your feelings. This information will help you sense and know what you feel in your body and helps you to make decisions and take action in our life.

Mindfulness and self-compassion skills and methods are practical tools that help you to accept yourself fully without judgment. Employing these skills, you can reduce the inner critical voices that block you from knowing your feelings, desires and experience, your most essential insights and awareness that can guide you on your path.

EMDR is a profound method and process to work through and resolve stressful and traumatic experiences in the past and the present. It helps you to build the resources and skills to face challenges and pursue goals and dreams.

Military Community Counseling

As a Military and Family Life Consultant, I counseled Military Service Members, family members, civilian staff, and others in this community on bases on the mainland US, Hawaii and Europe.

I guided them through the challenges of deployments, losses and grief, separations from friends and family, relationship problems and divorce. Through it all, I witnessed a strength and determination to make it through any difficulty. I was profoundly moved by their courage and resolve.
